Years ago, I got interested in spinning my own yarn. I lived in the Washington, DC area at the time, and was a regular at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. I bought a couple of books, a spindle, and some Romney top. During that time, as I was walking the neighborhood with my kids, I found a spinning wheel perched on top of a trash can, with a minor piece of wood missing and a huge snarl of fluff/yarn on it. Yes, I trash-picked that wheel, and took it home perched on top of the stroller.

The wheel went into deep storage when we moved North, and it’s been packed away ever since. It still is … when I said deep storage, I mean deep.

But a good friend has started spinning, and inspired me to get out my spindle and top, and begin again. I’m having a great time with it. My fingers sort of remember the process, my beginner yarn is fairly even!  When I get my top (dyed blue, teal and purple, very pretty) spun up and finished, I’ll have to see what it wants to be.

So, will there be a Spin Suite in the future? Maybe … the iSpin Toolkit seems like all a spinner needs. Is there room for competition … or should I look at other things a spinner needs?
