Fast Baby Blanket

The pattern that started it all. I have knit this pattern for many years as a baby gift. It truly is fast — I can finish it in 2 evenings of TV watching, and I’m a slow knitter who doesn't watch much television. Uses about 8 oz of worsted weight yarn. Gauge is not critical, you want a light, loose fabric.

Ruth's Railroad Scarf

This is a simple long skinny scarf, with triangular ends, made of one ball of any “railroad yarn” such as Plymouth’s Eros. I first designed it for my friend Ruth, who was going through some hard times and needed pampering. The scarf is knit in garter stitch. It is for advanced beginners, because the railroad yarn is a bit tricky to knit.

Jon's Fish Mittens

When Jon was a toddler, he loved fish. I developed this mitten pattern to keep him happy during the chilly winter. He loved his “ish” and now that he’s a big kid of 11, he still smiles to see these.

The pattern includes the mittens, an un-tested hat, plus general directions for dyeing “goldfish” colored yarn with food coloring.
